“Not all learning comes from books. You have to live a lot.” L. Lynn

Professional coaching and consulting can be a valuable tool for exploring options open to you. You can set goals, but the problem is you have to have a plan for reaching those goals. That’s where lifestyle coaching can assist you with identifying and choosing the options for your next steps. A professional coaching and consulting expert can make you a much bigger success than if you were trying to do this yourself!

Covering the Distance

Some people seem to have no problems making career changes. These people probably self-coach themselves, but most people can’t do that with any assurance they are actually evaluating all of the options. This is especially true if you have been working the same job for many years or have been out of the workforce for a long period of time.

Typically, it’s women who drop out of the workforce in order to raise families. It’s also women who choose to stay in unsatisfying jobs for years, because they want the good pay or need the benefits cover the family. But you’re your children are grown, and there’s now time to turn your focus inward, what you find may be very surprising.

Middle-aged women are vital, interesting and capable people who can pursue any career or life vision. With lifestyle coaching, these women can now stop pushing those restless thoughts away and begin a process of enlightenment. That’s what professional coaching and consulting services really provide – a greater understanding of what you want to do with your life from this point onward and a plan of attack.

But it can be a long distance between goal setting and new career implementation. A professional lifestyle consultant can help you make the trip so you actually see outstanding results. You will work with the coach to identify your strengths and weaknesses, your attitudes, your gifts and talents, your interests, your passions and your career needs.

Safe Arrival

Like any trip you take, you want safe arrival at your destination. The only way to meet your goals safely is through professional coaching. Working with an experienced lifestyle coach, you will be amazed to discover how many different talents you have that can be used in a variety of ways. You no longer have to worry about how to get the dream life you deserve.

Your lifestyle can be evaluated in relationship to the pursuit of your new goals. You can be coached in relationships, finances, health maintenance and careers. You will seek to find that balance in your life which brings self-awareness, self-fulfillment and self-confidence.

When you reach 40 years old, there’s always a sense of urgency that seems to accompany the age. That’s because we now see that time is not infinite, and if you are going to make a better life for yourself, there’s no time like the present to begin the journey. Professional coaching and consulting is about challenging your traditional way of thinking so that new options become apparent.

If you’re a woman over 40 and ready to take an exciting journey of self-discovery that can lead to a satisfying career and can help you to live the lifestyle you want, then professional coaching and consulting is for you!

“Winners make goals: losers make excuses!” — Anonymous

With personal lifestyle coaching, you are able to identify and achieve your personal goals that seem out of reach at the moment. Personal lifestyle coaching helps you to answer the following questions: “How many goals have you set? How powerful are your plans and desires to achieve them? What are you willing to do to make them come true?”

With coaching, your personal awareness is taken to a new level so you are able to recognize and take advantage of your many gifts, talents, skills interests and passions. Lifestyle coaching is for anyone who is not satisfied with their current life and wishes to reach for the best he or she can attain.

Enchanted Cup

If life were a fairy tale, you could drink out of the enchanted cup to make your dreams come true. You wouldn’t have to worry about things like attitude or confidence, because the spell would be cast with the first sip. But there is no enchanted cup which means you have to learn to develop the right attitude and the confidence you need to make important life changes.

Personal coaching begins with the basics. You have to determine what your life goals are and then determine where you currently stand in relationship to those goals. That’s the only way you can get your life turned to the direction you really want it to be flowing.

Most people who choose lifestyle coaching recognize they are seeking something whether it is a different career, a closer relationship with family, improved health or contentment. Of course, contentment will follow if you fill the gaps in your life in a way that meets your goals. It’s like an unbroken circle and on the circumference are your goals and your life purpose with contentment filling the center.

In fairy tales, dreams come true but usually only after some distressing events. In real life, if you feel discontentment, you are in effect living the distressing events on a daily basis and are ready for changes. Personal lifestyle coaching can help you learn how to change your attitude about your ability to find happiness in any area of your life you choose.

Filled to the Brim

If you did have an enchanted cup, you would want it filled to the brim with whatever potent concoction will bring you success. That’s what personal coaching really is all about. You fill your cup with self-awareness of how you think, make decisions and set goals. Your personal coaching concoction is made up of steps you will take to reach your personal goals.

With personal lifestyle coaching, you are setting up a path to self-fulfillment. This may be hard to comprehend when you’re so busy just getting through each day, but with coaching you are able to seek options in your life by assessing your personal preferences, skills and talents.

You may not have an enchanted cup or live a fairy tale story, but you can still live the kind of life you really want to live. It starts by deciding on your life goals and then devising a step-by-step plan for reaching those goals. Your personal life coach will be your guide who helps you get and stay on track during your journey to self-awareness.

With personal lifestyle coaching you can address any area of your life which includes work, money, physical and mental health and relationships. It’s not a fairy tale, it’s your life!

Robert Kiyosaki, in his bestseller “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” talked about an incident when a writer approached him for advice on selling her book. Kiyosaki told her to change her title into something catchier, something more “pop,” something that will appeal better to the masses. The writer, who felt her artistic freedom had just been insulted, was outraged. “This is a well-written book! I will not make changes.” “Oh,” Kiyosaki said casually. “I know I’m in no position to critique your writing. I am not a best-writing author. But I am a best-selling author.”

Sales. At the end of the day, even the best product or service needs to be marketed well in order for business to thrive. So many business owners neglect the marketing part of their trade; they assume that quality products will just sell themselves. But while making sure that you’re coming up with A+ wares help in turning a profit, you need a good business and marketing plan in order to actually put money in your pocket.

What is a business and marketing plan?

Put simply, a business and marketing plan is a roadmap that documents what your business is, what your business hopes to achieve, and what marketing strategy you plan to apply in order to meet your business objectives. Included in a business and marketing plan are information about your target consumers, how you plan to stand out from the competition, the marketing mix (also known as the 4 Ps: product, price, place and promotion) and how much money you plan to invest on your marketing needs.

If you’re a newbie at marketing, worry not. Writing a business and marketing plan is not rocket science. It does, however, require a lot of thought, foresight, research and creativity.

What do you need to consider when making a business and marketing plan?

Consider the following 3 Main Parts of a Business and Marketing Plan:

Information about the Current Market

How is the industry doing right now, and where do you see your business amidst the fray? Perhaps the market is thriving, and you want to go out and challenge the current leader. Or perhaps the market is weak, but your product and service is such an innovation, it’s guaranteed to find loyal consumers. Or the market is awesome, and your product needs more tweaking in order to sell well.

Don’t just be guided by your gut instinct; do the research. What is the profile of your target market: age, socio-economic class, preferences and general buying behavior? Who are your competitors, and how are they doing? Having this information on hand can help you in planning the best marketing strategy that will benefit your business.

Marketing Strategy

Consider the case of General Motors (GM) in the 70s. At its inception, Ford was the market leader. They produced a great selling car called the Model T. The only problem: the car was only available in black. GM saw and responded to the demand for individuality among car owners. They sold cars in a variety of colors. The simple decision helped GM eat up Ford’s market share!

Your marketing strategy outlines your tactics in responding to threats and opportunities you’ve identified in your market study. Is your product or service well-differentiated enough to justify higher pricing than the average? Should you serve the current market or look for underserved niches? Do you use direct marketing with attractive salespersons, or do you take out an ad in the local classified? Brick and mortar world or e-business? Your business and marketing plan must include your specific game in making it in the world of commerce.

Action Programs

Lastly, you need to spell out how exactly your marketing strategies will be turned into reality. Branding your business, for example, is a marketing strategy that needs a lot of careful study. Your brand equates to your presence in the market; it must be comprehensive enough that it tells people everything they need to know about you, but punchy enough that it sticks in people’s minds. Your action program may start with first consulting with a branding specialist, brainstorming with your team members, market-testing a brand idea. In this part of your business and marketing plan, you need to know what will be done, when it will be done, how it will be done, who would do it, and how much will it cost.

Remember: marketing is your main chance to connect with potential and current customers! Deliberation pays off — there’s nothing like the joy of seeing satisfied customers and hearing the ding on the cash register!

“The real secret to success is enthusiasm.” — Walter P Chrysler

Career coaching for women over 40 years old can virtually restore the vision you once had as a young woman. This is not to say you will start seeking interviews at ground level jobs with career promise (though that’s always one possibility). But what can happen is a readjustment of your lifestyle and attitude so you can actively seek the kind of career that fits a vision now relegated to the dusty corners of your mind.

Time Keeps on Slipping… Slipping

There’s no doubt that time will always keep on slipping away, which means you have an obligation to seek the career you want starting now. Many women over 40 have made job decisions along the way that fit their family needs more than their personal needs. While this is admirable and responsible, at some point the children will be grown and you will find yourself able to once again dream about possibilities.

It’s sad to think that many women think it’s too late to begin a new career just because they are over 40 years old. But if you think about it, you can be just as dissatisfied at 20 or 30 years old as you can at 40. There’s no reason to live that way, but after 20 years, making changes in your life can be a bit daunting.

That’s where career coaching for women can be invaluable. You can get the motivation and advice you need to identify your real career vision and match that vision to your interests and abilities.

… Into the Future

When you talk about a vision, you are talking about the future. It really doesn’t matter what age you are because all people have talents and experience that can be used to start a new career or enhance a current career. The fact that age is an arbitrary number has been proven by countless baby boomers who are redefining their careers as they decide how they want the rest of their lives to be led.

If you are dissatisfied with your current career, you need to ask yourself two questions. First, ask yourself if you are really unhappy with your choice of careers or if you just need to find a way to make your job more interesting and fulfilling. Second, you can ask yourself if you would like to pursue a completely different career.

Of course, there are plenty of women over 40 who are done raising children and now are looking for self-fulfillment. From this point forward, career coaching for women can assist any women at any stage of life in seeking self-awareness that can help define a life purpose.

Meeting the Challenge of Change

As we age, much more than our bodies go through a transition. So does our interests and focus. Being prepared to turn those changes into an action plan which supports a future vision is what career coaching for women is all about. If you are over 40 and ready to find fulfillment and joy, then a great place to begin reassessing your life is with your career.

”You never suffer from a money problem, you always suffer from an idea problem.” — Robert Schuller

A business coaching motivational speaker can help you take the first steps towards improving your business or meeting your business career goals. Sometimes, in order to find the inspiration required to get your business life on track, you have to find the right kind of motivation. An inspirational speaker is able to present the idea, conveying information you need in order to envision your potential.

The Art of Speech

It’s no coincidence that many women seek motivation and inspiration at events which use a motivational speaker to draw attendees like themselves. For some, there is a sense of unhappiness or disappointment, because they are floundering in their business or career. Of course, they desire clarity and confidence but really don’t know how to find the internal motivation to make changes in their lives.

On the other hand, some business women simply don’t know how to go about making those changes even if they understand that those changes are necessary. Change can be scary when you have to face the unknown. However, it can be scarier if you have become complacent, essentially confining yourself to living within your comfort zone.

Yet, no matter how calm and safe you might feel, you must be careful not to impose self-defeating limitations to your creative spirit. If you are not fulfilling your potential, there will always be the nagging feeling that something in your life is not working as it should be. You’ve given in to the sad state of affairs by restricting yourself to unimaginative thinking.

It’s amazing how even a small shift in attitude or learning to make better choices can reap big benefits. That’s because opportunity has to be recognized before you will be able to take advantage of it. With the right business coaching motivational speaker, new possibilities in your life become more apparent, because your mind is opened to your full potential.

A powerful speaker can inspire people like no one else. This is true whether the speaker is having a two-way exchange on the telephone or speaking to an auditorium full of people. That’s because a good motivational speaker knows which words to choose to unleash the power of positive thinking and deliberate action.

Drawing Your Own Picture

A business coaching motivational speaker who is experienced and can skillfully present information needed for taking action is a speaker who knows how to reach people on a deeper level. When you attend a general speaking seminar, the world of possibilities is displayed for all. When you begin working with a business coach you will find you have a motivational partner in your quest for business fulfillment.

A business coaching motivational speaker can help you in many ways. You can learn new ways to solve business problems. If you are feel as though you are treading quicksand in your own business, the right kind of motivation can open your eyes to new ways of doing business. Or, that motivation can make you become painfully aware how you have permitted your personal traits to limit your vision, determination, and commitment.

A motivational speaker can also help you identify the steps you need to take in order to make a successful career start or change. Too many people think they are “too old” to begin making job or business changes, but that’s simply not true. There is never a time in life when pursuing your dreams is inappropriate. There is never a time in life when pursuing your dreams is too late. And, there is never a time in life when you can’t have a chance to succeed.

That’s why you see 80-year-old men and women graduating from college. They had the right motivation to seek self-fulfillment. A business coaching motivational speaker can help you draw your own picture of life instead of living a portrait drawn by other people or circumstances.

Understanding Skills that Can Make You Rich!

Most of us were trained by our parents on how to be good employees. We were advised to pursue college education, so that we can create impressive résumés. We were told to obey our superiors at work, so that we can rely on their good graces for a raise or promotion.

But very rarely do parents equip their kids in the art of business management — which is such a shame! Everyone has the potential to be a business owner — in charge of one’s destiny, and able to pursue dreams as big as one’s imagination. Nobody is born an entrepreneur; it’s something that you can learn, perfect through practice and eventually excel at.

Are you a female business owner with dreams of making it big in the world of commerce? If yes, well you can do with some business smarts! Understanding what business management is can make you stand out from the hundreds who started their business with much idealism, but ended up concluding that lucrative endeavors are nothing but pure hype.

Which begs the question: what is business management?

As the term implies, business management is the deliberate effort to create a vision for a business, and guide this vision to successful completion. It entails work at 4 important management functions: planning, organizing, leading and controlling.

Let’s take a look at each one further.

Planning

It may be said that planning is the most important of all business management functions. If you’re a female business owner interested in saving yourself time, effort, money and frustration, you want to invest time crafting well-thought out plans. Planning means identifying from the onset the goals and objectives of your business, short-term and long-term strategies for success, areas of innovation, and basically where you see your business going in the immediate and far-off future.

Good business plans are those that are realistic and attainable, and is based on not just a great vision, but also on a careful study of information available at the moment. All entrepreneurs, including female business owners, must remember: not all great visionaries make good business managers! You want to have both feet planted firmly on the ground — while not losing your potential to be creative and resourceful!

Organizing

The second key function of business management is organizing. As the term implies, organizing means putting together resources (human and material) in order to transform your business into a well-oiled machine. Do you have employees? In what way should they perform their work so that you can get the best output every time? Do you need to procure specific materials and facilities? How do you work around budget constraints?

The organizing function is challenging, because so much in a business can change before you can say “business management.” Sometimes you get the best talent out of list of applicants, at times you need to think of ways to maximize your employees’ strengths and manage their weaknesses. Consumer tastes and preferences may change in an instant, especially today when finding options is as easy as typing a few words on the computer. Resources that are cheap and almost free one minute, can cost like gold the next. Strategic female business owners must know how to stay alive in a rapidly changing market, one that can render something you worked years for obsolete in a few seconds.

Leading

The ability to manage people is one of the key elements of business management. Today’s business is not just product-based, it’s also about quality customer service and an engaged workforce. Whether you have a team of 3 people or a company of 15 doesn’t matter. You want to make the most of both individual employees and group synergy.

Emotional intelligence is a term often touted on self-help books, but it’s a valuable resource every business manager must have. Good leaders are self-aware; they know that they have to always act rationally instead of merely reacting to their emotions. They must also be able to effectively respond to the human element of business. A good business team has more than technical skills; they also live out positive business values.

Controlling

Lastly, business management involves the task of controlling. Controlling means monitoring your business’ progress to ensure that you’re meeting your goals and objectives. Managers must strive to maintain a high level of quality for their products and services. This means constant checking and follow-up on the effectiveness of each nut and bolt. It means responding to crisis promptly — good business managers don’t sleep when a fire is raging! It also means being able to recognize limitations, and work around such limitations.

This article on what is business management may make you feel intimidated when it comes to running a successful business. Don’t be! For sure, some of the skills required to effectively execute each of these four functions, you already have. It’s just a matter of sharpening the saw and fine-tuning.

Are you seriously considering putting up a small business? Perhaps you’re a work-from-home mom interested in starting a female-owned business. Or maybe you’re a corporate employee eager to forge a path on your own. Either way, you’re probably wondering: where is the best place I can get information about “help for small business”?

Well, why not consider a “study at home” course?

There was a time when there were not many ways to learn how to be an entrepreneur. And if you really want quality education, you need to get an MBA. But this is the information age: many experts in the field are eager to share secrets that made them the success they are today!

You actually get the best of both theory and practical advice when you subscribe to home study courses that help small business. You’ll be guided by people who have not just studied the art of small business management, but actually lived what they know. All from the comfort of your bedroom, minus the unnecessary minor subjects. And in many cases, a study at home course comes with a free consultation with the expert.

In what ways can a study at home course help small business? The following are just 5 that are worth considering:

1. Can you work off of your passion?

The best way to work is to profit from what you love doing. But we all need advice on which hobbies and interests are actually worth pursuing as business. For all you know, your penchant for making eclectic jewelry can inspire a global trend. Or maybe you underestimate your list of talents and abilities. Many female business owners start out as merely doing something nice for friends and family. Little did they know that their service can be transformed into a quick buck!

2. Is starting a small business for you?

There are personalities that best fit entrepreneurship, and you want to know if yours do before you commit. For instance, owners of small businesses often have to be Jacks (and Jills!) of all trade; one person in charge of dealing with suppliers, keeping records, managing payroll, cleaning up etc. If such diversity of roles tends to overwhelm you, then perhaps small business isn’t for you. A study at home course, focused on ways to help small business, can make you decide if you’re for entrepreneurship or not.

3. What are my options?

Of the many programs which can help small business, a study at home course can also assist you in deciding which model of small business fits you well. There are many possibilities, and, thankfully, in some cases, you don’t need to start everything from scratch. Aside from building a start up, you can opt to buy an existing business or purchase a franchise. Your study at home course can help you make a more informed decision on this matter.

4. Where can I get the money?

Ah, of course, funding matters. Do you really have to sell your home’s equity to finance your desired business venture? Or are there other means of getting financial backing for your business idea. Courses that help small business can point you to sources of business credit, angel investors, small business grant agencies and other options that you can consider when setting up your small business.

5. So, how do I go about it?

Your study at home course can also guide you through your business start-up checklist. How do you choose and register a business name? Where to go if you want to get your business incorporated? Are there business licenses and permits that you need to have before you can operate? What are the logistics of having employees? What on earth should you include in your business plan? Questions, questions! And your study at home course can give you the answers.

You shouldn’t balk at getting information that you deserve. This is the opportunity to make an informed decision and avoid the pitfalls.. Help for your small business can be as simple as signing up for a home study course.

Then Let Small Business Solution Guide You to Happiness and Prosperity!

Do you know how the great pretzel franchise Auntie Anne’s started out? Just from one woman’s ability to spot a huge opportunity!

Needing money to start a free counseling center, Anne Beiler set up a food stand. Immediately, she noticed how much profit can be made from the stand’s bestseller: hand-rolled pretzels. The pretzels were sold for 55 cents each, and yet they only take about 7 cents each to make. That’s more than 7 times the initial capital! Thinking fast, Beiler and her husband Jonas built more pretzel stands. And now Auntie Anne’s have 1,100 stores in over 22 countries — and growing! Not bad from something that started as a stepping stone to something else.

Most women can only dream of the success that Anne Beiler realized. But if you’re like many, there’s always an excuse not to get small business solution. “I can’t yet because I don’t have the capital — and with all these debts to service, I never will.” “I am to weak-minded to ever be an entrepreneur; I’ve lacked self-confidence since childhood.” “It’s too scary to take a risk — what will happen to me if I fail?”

Newsflash: unless you begin thinking of owning a small business as something that’s within the realm of the possible, you will always find reasons not to start! The sad thing is, many of our excuses are born out of either fear or ignorance. You need not rely on luck or your limited business know-how in order to succeed in small business. What you need is to avail of the best small business solution available in the market.

What small business solution is worth investing on? Consider the following three:

Training Programs. If you’re eager to have a small business solution in your hands, start with the know-how first.

There are many ways to gain knowledge on how to run small businesses, and thankfully, many won’t cost you an arm and leg. There are seminars and forums, informal get-togethers, formal conventions, as well as home study courses available on print and video. You may also access a small business solution expert through the internet, to consult regarding the day-to-day concerns of small business manager.

Small Business Services. A small business solution can come in the form of consulting and outsourcing solutions for a great variety of small business-related tasks. You don’t have to put up a Human Resource Department when you’re managing a team of 5; so why not let a professional HR consultant handle recruitment and payroll? Not good with legal issues? There are small business solution lawyers ready to assist on call. If you know how to seek for help, you’ll lessen the pressure that comes with managing a small business.

Small Business Solution Equipment and Software. Finally, you may also avail of equipment and computer programs that can help you manage your small business better. For instance, there are companies that provide affordable VoIP set-up for small business. There’s bookkeeping software that can make numbers easier to manage for the non-accountant. There are even software + hardware packages that can guide you through the rigors of going online: from setting up a business website to direct email marketing, to installing a credit card-friendly shopping cart.

If you make the effort to research your options, you’ll see that a small business solution can make life easier for an entrepreneur.

Reality check: majority of start-up businesses fail

In the cut throat world of business, hard work alone doesn’t guarantee success. Neither does having a good idea. You need to sketch out your business, up to the nitty-gritty, before you can believably say it has a chance. You need to identify your contractors, suppliers, facilities and equipment. You need to know if a market exists, and whether your packaging and pricing choices will appeal to your target consumers. You have to scope out the rivals, and find your competitive advantage. You need to identify the key people that will handle your operations. You have to foresee problems, and figure out early how to address them.

You need to have a business plan.

What is a business plan?

A business plan is a written document that summarizes your venture, in a way that highlights the company’s goals and how management plans to achieve them. A business plan must be able to show that the business is feasible: that it has low risk of folding up and high likelihood of making a profit.

Why bother?

There are two main reasons why entrepreneurs are recommended to write a business plan.

First, a business plan can serve as internal guide for the company’s daily operations. A business idea may be completely fleshed out in the owner’s mind, but seeing it all outlined on paper surfaces considerations important in getting from A to B. It’s not unusual for business owners to suddenly realize that, after writing a business plan, their idea may not work after all. Isn’t it better to figure viability early before you’ve invested time, money and effort in your business?

Second, a business plan can be a persuasive tool in getting financing. Put yourself in the shoes of a lender or investor. Don’t you need to see a complete roadmap of a business venture before you part with your cash?

What should you find in a business plan?

There are many business plan formats that you can use. The content of a business plan depends on how you’re going to use the document. Is it just for your personal reference? Then perhaps you don’t need to go into detail regarding operations you already know. Is it for the guidance of your team members? Then perhaps milestones and deliverables per operational stage must be outlined explicitly. Is it for applying for a loan? Then you need to invest time crafting the section on financial projections, so that you can impress your lender with your potential to pay back what you’ll owe.

Wherever you’re going to use your business plan for, the following are standard parts of a business plan format:

Executive Summary. Usually written last, the Executive Summary provides an overview of the entrepreneur, the product or service being offered, and the product’s or service’s market viability. Think of it as like the abstract of a research paper, although it’s usually a page or two long. The Executive Summary highlights your company’s competitive edge: that little something that makes you stand out from other players in the industry. It also provides a synopsis of how well and how soon the company can turn a profit.

Mission Statement. Sharing the company’s Mission Statement can help readers understand what the business aims to accomplish. “To be one of the Top 3 producers of cocoa-based candies in Oregon by 2015” is an impressive goal to work for, and tells everyone that you have a vision for your company’s growth. Note: all the other details of your business plan must be consistent with your mission statement.

Company Background. This section provides information about your company, including the origins of your business (how did you come up with the idea?), your organizational structure, developments in your company thus far (not necessary if your business is a start-up), and your business’ place in the industry it belongs to.

Products or Services. This part of the business plan format provides a detailed yet concise description of the products or services your company is offering consumers. Best features must be emphasized to show how consumers can benefit from patronizing your company instead of the competition.

Market Analysis and Marketing Strategy. How do you plan to advertise, sell and distribute your products or services? This section shares the characteristics of your target market, an intelligent estimate of the demand, your marketing approach (include pricing, packaging and delivery plans) and your sales forecast.

Management Plan. This part shares the experience and qualifications of the key people in your company’s management. Their detailed résumés can be included in your business plan’s appendix section.

A business start up is one the most important events in the life of an entrepreneur. It is a time where an entrepreneur’s energy levels, skill and resources are put to the test. A business start up requires thorough research and long hours of hard work.

There are 6 primary steps in starting a business. Accomplishing each of them adds to the business’ survival.

1) Create a life plan: Some of the most successful entrepreneurs are those who know how to synchronize their personal life with business life. Making a life plan will help entrepreneurs find their personal interest, likes and dislikes, and provide the “passionate” foundation that it take to start a business.

2) Choose a business model: Once an entrepreneur has a clear sense of her life plan and personal interests, she needs to choose a business model which best fits her life plan. She can consider having a home based business, franchise, e-commerce, ebay or a traditional brick and mortar model for her new business. The steps in starting a business requires that the specific model she selects is one in which the workload, energy level, money commitment, needed resources are all in harmony with what the entrepreneur wants to do

3) Write a business plan: This simple document will be the lifeblood of the business she starts. It should be realistic, simple and well thought out. The business plan outlines the goals the entrepreneur wants her business to achieve and ways of achieving them.

4) Chose the business structure: There is no best structure which the entrepreneur should pick. It all depends on her business model and the type of product or service she is offering. An attorney can help an entrepreneur identify which business structure (sole proprietorship, partnership, or an LLC - limited liability company) to choose and the required tax and legal compliances to be followed for each.

5) Create key business assets: One of the steps in starting a business is understanding what are those parts of the company that represent value. They can include the products, people, and facility. Business assets are also those which will help in marketing the company in the future. They include designing company logo, trademark, patents, copyrights and website. It is imperative for an entrepreneur to secure her intellectual rights in order to keep competition and counterfeiting form eating away her sales.

6) Address funding issues: Finances are the biggest source of problems in the steps to starting a business. Entrepreneurs need to identify the funding requirements for their business and choose the right type of funding which suits their industry and business goals. A few funding sources to consider can be friends, family, private equity, angel investors, venture capitalists, banks and government agencies like Small Business Administration.

7) Hire people: people are an asset for large and small companies alike. When a business is considering the steps in starting a business, hiring good talented people is the key to survival. Hiring mistakes can be devastating for start ups businesses. An entrepreneur needs to identify the skills she wants her employees to possess and start searching for potential employees based on her business requirements.

8) Marketing the business: The last of the steps in starting a business is getting the customers to know about it. Once a business plan is made, the entrepreneur has identified her target market, she needs to start making a thorough and detailed marketing plan. She needs to start thinking innovatively about marketing her business such as through cost effective promotional mediums like Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. However, word of mouth and recommendations are the best promotional tools used by new entrepreneurs. So, don’t forget to ask your customers to refer others to you.
